Very Best Ab Sculpting Exercises

We are continually told that the secret to getting six pack abs is diet and diet only. The logic being that everyone has a set of abs covered by a layer of fat and all you need to do is to diet the fat away and then voila; bobs your uncle. That's kind of, sort of true. But there lies a significant problem. Just because your musculature is visible, it does not necessarily mean that it will look impressive. Case in point; marathon runners. Every sinew and muscle fibre on their bodies is visible. These guys are really ripped in the strictest sense of the word.. but do they look impressive? Is that the physique we go to the gym to build? I thought as much.

What's needed is muscle gain in whatever area we are looking to highlight. This accentuates the area and makes it 'stand out' even more when we decide to follow the conventional advice and 'diet' the fat away. in this write up we will look at how to enhance your abs - the sort of exercises which will help you get the perfectly formed, deep, chocolate bar type of abs. I must also state that the overall shape is dictated by your genes, but these exercises will enhance your six pack muscles regardless.

1. Leg raises - The lower abdomen is a tricky area to target precisely. Mostly because the exercises at your disposal require an advanced level of fitness. Leg raises are such exercises and I'll admit that they are rather difficult. Simply keep trying and within a 4 week period, you should be able to perform a complete set. Over an extended period of for instance 6 months, the improvements will be obvious.

A good way to begin the leg raise is the knee raise. This way, you condition your hip flexors and your core to adapt to this movement before you turn it up a notch and lift your entire lower body. Single leg raises are also recommended for conditioning as some trainees will experience trouble raising both their legs.

2. Front squat - You have to be careful with the front squat. We all desire a small waist to create that V-shape and women will want a small waist as it enhances their femininity. Front squats are so effective at building your core (including your abs) that they can add a lot muscle to your waist, making you appear blocky. Done in moderation, they can really work miracles on your stomach and give you a midsection everyone will envy.

3. Decline sit ups - Whether they're performed with a weight or without it, decline sit ups are incredibly effective at sculpting your abdomen. The beauty is that the decline sit up is an extremely versatile exercise. Firstly, the degree of the incline on the bench can be adjusted with more extreme angles suiting more advanced trainees. Conversely, you can keep the incline constant but use weights for resistance instead. This will definitely stimulate growth in the area and cause those abdominal muscles to grow.

Getting a six pack is undoubtedly challenging. There are many programs that claim to be able to help you achieve this goal. We have taken a look at one such program.
